YAANW 130th Anniversary Celebration

ry=480-28

The celebration of YAANW’s 130th anniversary took place in grand style on May 15th at the 50th Floor of the IDS Tower.

Master of Ceremonies and former YAANW President Rick Luis (Class of ‘67) began this special evening by recognizing all past presidents in attendance. Moving into the formal program, we heard a letter of commendation from Governor Mark Dayton (Class of ’69). Whitney MacMillan (Class of ‘51) then spoke of some of the memorabilia available from the Club’s early days in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. Our main speaker was Professor Charles Hill, Yale Jackson Institute for Global Affairs Expert, International and Middle East Studies, and past Advisor to Secretaries of State Henry Kissinger and Charles Schultz. Hill spoke of the increasing role of security in today’s world and in so many aspects of our daily lives.

After a hearty exchange of views between the attendees and the speaker, we all rose in the best Yale tradition to sing “Bright College Years”, ending the formal part of the evening.
