    Merchant of Venice at the Guthrie Theater Join your fellow alumni for a special event at the Guthrie Theater.
    The evening begins with a tour of the Guthrie Theater hosted by Antay Bilgutay ’89, Director of Corporate and Foundation Giving, and his staff, followed by an opportunity to mingle over light hors d’oeuvres, and culminating in a production of the controversial and poetic Shakespearean play The Merchant of Venice, directed by Guthrie Artistic Director Joe Dowling.

    Siberian Bridges
    Thomas G. Dickinson (’78, MM ’82, DMA ’91) talks about his non-profit, educational and cultural exchange organization, Siberian Bridges, Inc. (SB). SB is a Minnesota non-profit which promotes awareness and support for the area of eastern Siberia called Zabaikalye-“Beyond the Baikal”–and its formerly closed main city of Chita. SB’s mission is to facilitate the exchange of information and resources, and provide networking and growth opportunities leading to greater self-determination for these Siberian communities. Tom is currently planning a summer Service/Educational Tour of this area and hopes to generate some interest among the members of the local alumni. For more information, visitwww.siberianbridges.org.

    Joel Podolny, Dean of the Yale School of Management, will host a Conversation with Local Alumni:

    Dean Podolny’s research is in the areas of economic sociology, complex organizations, and social networks. He has been recognized for his research on the sociological conception of status to the study of market competition. He has examined status dynamics in a variety of industries, including investment banking, semiconductors, shipping, venture capital, and the wine trade. In addition to his work on status, he has conducted research on the role of social networks in mobility and information transfer within organizations. His current research seeks to explicate how leaders infuse meanings into their organizations.

Tom is also serving or has served on the governing board of the Greater Twin Cities United Way, The Walker Art Center, the Minnesota Orchestral Association and The Blake School. He is a partner at the law firm of Faegre & Benson.

    The Habitat Bicycle Challenge stops in Minneapolis. About twenty Yale students are pedaling from New Haven to Seattle to raise money for Habitat for Humanity. Minneapolis will be their first day off in two weeks of riding.

    The Minnesota Zoo: Up Close and Personal
    Dawn Mori SOM ’89 hosts a special reception just for alumni and their families in the newly re-opened Minnesota Trail habitat, which celebrates our state’s wildlife heritage and includes exciting exhibits for raccoons, coyotes and gray wolves, together with long-time residents like beaver, otter, puma and lynx. Guests will have a chance to mingle, meet some animals up close and hear about the zoo’s programs. Come earlier and enjoy a day at the zoo, or catch a show at the IMAX!
